We are blessed to be where we are!

The Gods conspired to calm the wind; a morning heat haze hovered over the grass heavy with dew. The still air enhanced the appreciation of the dawn chorus at five thirty am.  The island seemed alive with bird-song as if they were making a Nameste to the approaching day. Cows slowly rose up from their slumbers moving slowly like great ships in the mist, I stood listening to  them ripping grass from the ground, calves  called  their mothers and slowly almost imperceptibly, the sun rose up from behind the Old Lighthouse; burning off the magical mist to reveal a golden tinged landscape. By mid-day, the sky turned Cerulean blue, matched by the ocean, as calm lazy waves just touched the shore ( a far cry from the destructive rage, the grasping and grinding stones, the thunder of compressed air surging through blowholes). The harbour was a -buzz with ribs and pleasure boats, people milling about chatting just revelling in the heat, the views of the mainland were stunning, awash with various shades of blue, but the highlight of the day was the enchanting show by the show provided by the smallish Minke whales gadding about as they luxuriated in the sea. And then the rain came, sunset morphed into moonrise as birds became bats flitting about on mysterious forays and stars replaced sea sparkle; On days like this we know that we are blessed to be where we are!
