Nollaig Shona

We are so lucky to have family, friends and neighbours all about, houses are glowing with twinkling lights and little ones are full of anticipation of the visit of a very special person tonight. Shopping done, fire on, family around nice memories of other Christmases and the  people who shared them with us. The tree decorated with some old raggedy handmade ornaments, treasures from primary school, a bauble from Nan’s tree and many more, each one bringing back the memories of other years, no co-ordinated, themed shiny décor here, most ornaments hanging a bit higher than usual to avoid the grasp of little hands and tiny dogs! The lights adorn the house inside and out, a defiance against dark days when the sun is shy and hiding away. The simple joy of a guilt-free sleep-ins and indulgences, the daily arrival of cards and letters from friends far-away and long chats on the phone, the stack of books waiting to be read, and gratitude in our hearts for the good year just gone and hope for a better one.

All that remains is to wish all our family, friends and visitors the happiest Christmas and every joy, happiness, good health and prosperity in 2018.
