Bringing in the green on May Day was a common yet lovely tradition around here, the idea was that by bringing greenery and the blue flowers of the periwinkle or Vinca Major you would also be bringing in good luck to the house. The tradition is ancient and even the Romans celebrated the Roman goddess of flowers and vegetation, Flora from April 28th to May 3rd! Other piseogs incuded the fanciful notion that washing one's face in the dew on May Day morning would result in astounding beauty, no need for plastic or serums then!Book Accommodation Now!
Geimhreadh an Earraigh/ Winter Spring!
I have often heard people say that the weather is skinning, and most often it’s in March or early April when the weather is most unpredictable in fact the only predictable thing about the weather in early spring is it’s unpredictability! March is one of the seven long months with 31 days. Spring begins on the first of March for meteorologists the days become longer and we begin to notice a grand stretch in the evenings but the poor brindled cow was not so fortunate!Book Accommodation Now!
Tá an -chaint na laethanta seo faoi dhúchas agus oidhreacht agus stair le comóradh Éirí Amach 1916 faoi lán t-seol fud fad na tíre. Bhíos féin ag caint le cara le déanaí faoi oidhreacht, béaloideas agus an ceangal idir dhaoine agus a ndúiche. Rinneamar macnamh ar na himircigh a chuaigh go Meiriceá fadó ón oileán seo agus thóg clanna thall. Anois is arís filleann a sliocht siúd ar an bhfód dúchais ach ‘sí an tragóid ná nach a ndúchas siúd é ach oiread, ní oileánaigh iad,déanann siad iontas de shaol an oileáin, lorgaíonn siad rian a mhuintir agus is deacair dóibh é a aimsiú uaireanta.Book Accommodation Now!
